At Health Net Federal Services, our dedication to the military goes beyond managing military health care. It extends into a long history of philanthropy and service that reflects our commitment to the overall well-being of warfighters and their families. Over the past 35 years, our company and employees have played a crucial role in these efforts, investing money, time, skills, and our hearts into each initiative.
Through our trusted partnerships with military support organizations such as Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), Blue Star Families, Armed Services YMCA, and many more, we have extended our reach to millions of men, women, and children through hundreds of sponsored events and volunteer activities. Understanding the unique challenges faced by our community has led us to direct over $13 million in charitable giving over the past few decades to enhance the lives of our military members and their families.
As we reflect on the legacy of HNFS’ philanthropy, we take pride in what we will leave behind, including making possible TAPS’ suicide post-vention manual titled From Grief to Growth: Healing After a Suicide, a Blue Star Families chapter in Puget Sound, and necessary childcare services at military clinics throughout the TRICARE West Region. HNFS employees have also contributed countless volunteer hours toward TAPS’ Good Grief Camps, letter-writing campaigns, assembling and distributing supplies to support military families in need, and constructing a Habitat for Humanity home for a Veteran and their family. At the heart of these efforts lies the spirit of teamwork – coming together for a common goal is what truly defines our culture.
Beyond these examples of our support, advancing medicine for warfighters has been an important focus of HNFS’ charitable giving. Organizations such as the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine and the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States have become our trusted partners for advancing clinical research, innovation, and policy. Today, the findings and recommendations coming from these organizations are crucial to ensuring that service members receive the best possible medical care, both on and off the battlefield.
Lastly, HNFS has been dedicated to supporting service members during one of the most pivotal stages of their journey: the transition to civilian life. Through our long-standing partnership with organizations like the Red Cross, and our more recent partnership with the Department of Defense’s Skillbridge and Hiring our Heroes program, we take pride in providing professional training and hands-on experience to Veterans and retired service members, empowering them with the skills and resources needed to build successful careers beyond the military.
Each initiative and partnership reflects our commitment to the military community. As we look to the future, we remain steadfast in our mission to support, honor, and uplift those who serve and their families. We hope the torch will be carried on for many years to come.
